Goal Tending

Do you have career goals you'd like to meet, but find yourself afraid to tackle them?
Listen to some of the excuses you make-they might be holding you back, and may not even be valid.
People often make self-imposed excuses.
'I don't know what I want, but I know it's not this'- Julie Jansen (Penguin)

Extra

When creating a resume, don't forget to include any extracurricular activities you may have been involved with at school.
Employers look for people that are able to go beyond the standard parameters of a job.
If you organized basketball league or helped raise money for grass roots organization, put it on your resume.
It shows that you're capable of a little bit more than your classmates.

Get it write

If you successfully navigate the job market and find a job, don't settle for a firm handshake and pat on the back when you receive the actual job offer.
Instead, ask for everything in writing, including your new salary and benefits package.
You should also ask for a written job description, so you know exactly what's expected of you.
It will provide a blueprint for your initial work and give you a concrete guide for comparison during your first review.

Great Leaders

Effective leaders see people as appreciable assets with unlimited potential.
They clearly define competecies for key roles.
They integrate performance development as well as selection with those competencies, and establish an infrastructure that reinforces learning and feedback.

Stress Break

To use stress breaks effectively, you need to build them routinely into your work week and when you're not working.
Know when you have reached your stress quotient.
